The art of glass decoration is very old (think of the great cathedrals) and today is back in fashion thanks to the various possibilities offered and the ease of realization. This book guides us in the knowledge of the different types of glass. Describes the tools needed and tells us what colors should be used in cold decoration. Once this is assimilated we can learn the techniques for decorating simple objects (bottles, jars, etc.), and even to imitate the effect of old stained glass by applying some lead ribbons.
Special effects can also be achieved with glass engraving, which produces magnificent gradations of color, with tones, semitones and brightness. Other chromatic games are obtained with "sandblasting", which accentuates the effects of perspective and, therefore, increases the depth of the compositions and exalts the artistic value of our work. For each technique, for each special processing, the illustrations show us the different phases, with examples, so that the image and the explanatory text can be used at the same time for learning.
